Now that I have the traditional New Year's alcoholic beverage.
My motto this year is 'Don't look back.' Not going back through my calendar to do that first-line-of-each-month meme. Not going to look back at my list of resolutions, 'cause I'm pretty sure I haven't filled a one of 'em. No self-recrimination, it's counterproductive. I have a Mac and the good software, I have my own two hands and most of my health left, and I'm not looking back. Let the past stew in its own juices, I've got too much to do. *...breathes* *hoping sheer bloody-mindedness will make this phase last* Current Mood: workingCurrent Music: I Think I'm Paranoid - Garbage |

iMac documentation.
Problems so far: - When I boot the machine up, my wireless keyboard syncs up with it immediately but my mouse does not. Consulted the manual; the first step seems to be 'click the apple,' which, uh, does me exactly fuck-all lot of good. I solved this problem by using my USB mouse to click the apple and re-sync everything up. Only a temporary fix; this will get annoying if I have to do it every time. - Adobe CS4 failed to install properly three times. I tried it a fourth time just to have the error message to look at when I called tech support, and then it installed fine. I think it was just messing with me. - Apple refuses to communicate with any mp3 players not of its own family; my beloved Creative Zen is not of the right pedigree. Installed XNJB, which seems to communicate just fine, but documentation indicates it won't transfer movies, just music. Ah well. - iTunes is a pushy, pushy program. Have not found a suitable replacement. - Neither Word nor OpenOffice can deal with .wps files, which was the default format for Word on my old PC and therefore all my stories and my novel are currently un-openable. I'm hoping to find a workaround before I have to go through and re-save everything as .docs. Despite all this, I'm happy. My machine performs like a greased ferret on speed. EDIT: Can open .wps files in NeoOffice, thank goodness. ...First order of business will be to make .doc backups of everything, though. Just in case. Christmas comes early to moogles!
MAC I HAS A MAC MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC I'm quite excited about this. Also, the smell of it when you first open the box should be bottled. I don't wear perfume, but I'd wear that every day. (And have a line of nerds following me around, heh.) Stats: 21.5-inch iMac, 4GB RAM and 1TB hard drive, with Adobe CS Design Premium, MS Office, and Manga Studio. When Dragon Age: Origins comes out for Mac, I might get that too, but this is going to be primarily a working rig. Sorry, PC of Creakyness, but your days are numbered. Muahahahaha. >D Off to set it up! *scampers* Current Mood: bouncyCurrent Music: And Then There Was Silence - Blind Guardian |

There's bound to be talk tomorrow (just think of my lifelong sorrow)
Stole a meme from beckyh2112, which I now share with the masses like Prometheus bringing fire. Except it wasn't that hard, and it's not like she was guarding it all that closely, and nobody's threatening my liver, so it's not much like bloody Prometheus now is it. So here's the rules: 1. Write down the names of ten characters. 2. Write a fic of fifteen words or more for every prompt, using the characters determined by the numbers. Do not read the prompts before you do step one. 1. First Aid 2. King Mickey 3. Cyclonus 4. Amaterasu 5. Rodimus Prime 6. Megatron 7. Starscream 8. Roxas 9. Aeris 10. Mulan ( Ten characters, eleven ficthings. ) Current Mood: gratefulCurrent Music: Baby It's Cold Outside - Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews |
